STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE - FAMILY - by James J. Cecil
Chapter 2
"Daddy?" The old man moves his head to her voice and with his hands
reaches out and touches her face. Commander Sisko slowly walks up to her.
"Major. I'm sorry to break up your family reunion but I do believe that proper
introductons are in order."
Kira looks over her shoulder at Sisko and wipes the tears of joy from
her cheeks. She replies in a shakey voice. "Aye, Sir." Then setps back from
her father.
"I'm Commander Benjamin Sisko. Commander of Deep Space Nine." Sisko
says then gestures towards his first officer. "You have just met my first
officer Major Kira Nerys."
"I am Chancelor Ullrick Grimheld." says the Asguardain. "This is," he
gestures to the younger Asguardain beside him. "Captain Uller." Sisko nods
his head to him. Then turns and intorduces the rest of his crew.
"This is DS Nine's Chief of Security, Constable Odo. The station's
Chief Science Officer Lieutenant Dax, Doctor Bashir, and Chief O'Brien."
Chancelor Grimheld and Captain Uller each greet Sisko's crew. Grimheld turns
to him. "As you can see," he says trning slightly to Kira's parents.
"You have all ready met Tomlar Nerys and his lovely wife Naya." Sisko
nods his head to them. Kira turns to him. "Sir." she says. "Prmission to
escourt my parents to Quark's." she asks.
"Permission granmted." Sisko replies. Uller looks over at him. "I too
would also like to visit this Quark's." he says. "Of course, Captain Uller.
I'm sure Major Kira wouldn't mind showing you the way there along wiith her
parents." replied Sisko.
Kira walks up to her father and takes him by his arm. "This way dad."
she says. Then they both walk off together followed by Naya, her mother, and
Captain Uller.
Sisko turns to Ullrick. "If you'd like, Chancelor I'll have Lieutenant
Dax take you to your quarters." "Yes that would be most apporiate, Commander
Sisko." replied Ullrick.
Dax then walks over to him and take him by the arm. "This way,
Chancelor." she says with a warm smile. Then they both walk off down the
corridore together.
"If you'll excuse me, sir." Chief O'Brien says from where he's been
standing. Sisko looks in his direction. "I've got some work to do on level
nine." Benjamin nods his head and O'Brien exits down the same corridore as did
Dax and the others.
Sisko walks over to where Odo and Doctor Bashir are. "Constable," he
says. "Yes, Commander." Odo replies drly. "Check all Bajoran records on our
two Bajoran guest. Make Absolutely certain that they say who they claim they
are."
Odo nods his head in acknowledgement then quickly walks away. "You,
Doctor Bashir. Will be checking out all the Bajoran medical files on Major
Kira's parents and cross referance them with any findings that you may come
across when you examine them."
"Aye, Commander." Julain replies then walks away leaving Sisko alone
at the docking port. Sisko waits a few moments before leaving then turns
around and starts to walk away.
He almost gets past the archway where docking port and the station
comes together when he ehars from behind him a familar voice. "Oh come now,
Commander. Lets be a bit more trusting."
Sisko stops in mid stride. He turns around and sees Q standing on the
docking port platform. "Q!" Sisko practicallt shouts out. "It's good to see
you as well, Commander." Q says sarcastically while stepping down from the
platform.
Sisko approaches him. "What kind of a sick joke are you playing with
my first officer, Q?" Sisko demanded. "Me?" Q replies pointing a finger at
himself. Sisko shot him a 'Yes you' look.
"Surely you don't think I would brother myself with something as peity
as resurrecting the dead." "Let's just say I wouldn't put it past you, Q."
Commander Sisko said.
"Commander. You hurt my feelings with such acqusations." Q says in a
hurt voice. "Then convince me otherwise, Q. And I just might believe you."
Sisko says folding his arms across his chest.
Q smiles then chuckles a bit. "That would be a tab bit to easy for
you, Commander." "Why would it be, Q? Or is it that you know that no matter
what you say I, or anyone else, won't believe you." Sisko replies unfolding
him arms and turning away from him.
"perhapse. Then again perhapse not. You'll just have toaccept that I'm
telling you the truth, Commander. When I say. That I have had nothing to do
with your Major Kira's parents showing up here on your station."
Turning and facing Q once more Sisko asks. "The why are you here, Q?"
"Oh I shouldn't trifel you with the peity disagreement." Q says like he hasn't
done a thing wrong.
"Disagreement?" Sisko says a bit confused. "Yes, Commander." Q
replies. Then in a flash of light Q disappears and then reappears infront of
him. "With whom? The rest of the continum?" Sisko says. Q shoots him a drity
look. "Not since Jean Luc" Q half way says then suddenly turns away from
Sisko.
"Since Jean Luc did what, Q?" O looks over his shoulder. "Nothing,
Commander. He did nothing." Q replied folding his arms and looking like a five
year old child. "Nothing eh?" Sisko says inpounderment. And within his own
mind Benjamin Sisko was able to see that which no one else would be able to.
"Wrong, Q. Captain Picard has done something. Otherwise, why would you
be ashamed to admit it." Q turns quickly around. "I am not ashamed of
anything." Then vanishes before Sisko could utter what was next on his mind.
Sisko stands there for a second before turning around. He smiles then
heads on down the corridore and disappears around the corner.
